Successful exchange
students from Mielec and Löhne visited BURY
On Tuesday an annual student exchange between the Bertold Brecht Comprehensive Grammar School in Löhne and the Stanisław Konarski Secondary School in Mielec, Poland came to an end. As the last item on the agenda, the students visited BURY company in Löhne.
The student exchange between schools, which has been taking place every year since 2002, has become a part of tradition. Being a co-initiator of the partnership of the cities of Löhne and Mielec, and having company branches in both locations, BURY has been an active supporter of the student exchange for many years. Students from Germany first visit Mielec at Easter and are lodged in homes of Polish participants in the exchange, and then in the summer, the same procedure is repeated in Löhne.
This year’s exchange has been organized under the motto of “Mobility in the 21st century”, with an aim to get to know innovative solutions regarding the mobility of the future. That is why ten Polish and eight German students visited Autostadt in Wolfsburg, as reports the project manager and teacher from the school in Löhne, Mr Volker Hegemann.
At the end of the visit, students and teachers from both schools said thank you to Mrs Bury and gave her a present – a special picture. The picture displays the graffiti from the station in Löhne, expressing a protest against racism and exclusion, created by the group of the last year’s students.
